"Checking In"

Hello! Sorry it's been a while since my last post. We've been really busy trying to get school underway...and the first 3 months just flew by! Anyway, here is a quick recap of what's been going on in the L.E.S. Library up to this point:

Computers for Education - this drive helped us earn about $1,000 that will go towards the purchase of new books and technology for the library! Thanks to all who filled out their booklets with names and address. We earned $.50 for each address turned in.

Book Fair - We had a big turnout again for the book fair, raising about $1,500 that will also go towards the purchase of books and technology for the library.

**These two events are very important to us because for the past several years, our state funding for libraries has been cut completely, leaving local fundraisers as an extremely vital way for us to earn money to make purchases for the library. We will be moving into our NEW LIBRARY hopefully by the beginning of next school year, and we need to fill those shelves! Opportunities like those mentioned above allow me to purchase the most current, motivating and popular literature for our students. Thanks again for your support!!!!!

Welcome Back!

As of August 16th, the LES Library is back in full swing! We have many exciting events planned for the year including Book Fairs, Read Across America Day, Reading Celebrations and various Reading Competitions. Newsletters and flyers will go home closer to each event with more details. We will also continue to work hard to integrate library activities with classroom instruction. I look forward to an exciting year with your children as they are
encouraged to READ, READ, READ!

REMINDER:

Permission forms must be signed and all library books checked out this summer or last year MUST BE turned in, or paid for if lost, before you will be able to check out books this school year.

It's Book Fair Time again! The Scholastic Book Fair is here! We will be open for a "Family Sneak Preview Night" on Thursday, from right after school until 5:30 (before P.T.A.). The fair will then be open from Friday, February 26 - Friday March 5 from 8:00 - 2:00 each day. Hope you can stop by and check out the wonderful selection of books they have this season! Overdue Books

Notices for overdue books will be sent home with students at the end of the week. Please help your child locate any books that may be lost or overdue and bring them back to the library. We can renew the book to your child if he/she is still reading it.

Welcome back! I hope you had a great holiday break and that you continued to read! Notice that to the side of this blog, I added a shelf that includes some of my most loved books.
