Scholastic Book Fair

Our book fair is in full swing! Thank you so much to those of you who have sent money with your children to shop at the fair. All proceeds go directly towards the purchase of new books for our school and classroom libraries. If you haven't had a chance to come by, we will be open tomorrow afternoon (Thursday) from 3:15 until 5:00. We'd love for you to stop by before the LHS Homecoming parade! We have a wonderful selection of the newest books around... including the newest addition to the wildly popular series - Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The book is titled Dog Days and was just made available on Monday. We will be open during the day tomorrow from 8:00 - 2:30 and Friday from 8:00 - 11:00. Thanks again for your support and I look forward to seeing you here!

Thank you so much to Talladega First National Bank for helping us raise over $1350 for the school library! The money was contributed by employees and customers of FNB, as well as students of LES, and will go towards the purchase of new books for all students to enjoy. Computers for Education

On Monday, Sept. 14, your child will bring home a booklet to participate in the Computers for Education drive. Please fill out each individual form inside the booklet with a valid name and address. Each person listed will be mailed a request to subscribe to a variety of magazines. There is no obligation to buy. However, if two magazine orders are filled from the booklet, your child will earn a Looney Tunes t-shirt. For each completed booklet returned, our library will receive $5.50 and your child will receive a special prize. Last year we raised over $1500! What a simple, wonderful way for our school to raise money! The profits we receive go directly towards the purchase of computers and books for your child to use while at Lincoln Elementary School.

Ca$h for the Classroom

The First National Bank of Talladega has begun a wonderful campaign this year in order to help raise money for our schools! They are collecting donations from their employees and customers with the promise of matching all contributions and presenting them to a different school each month. Fortunately, Lincoln Elementary School was chosen to be the first Ca$h for the Classroom honoree!

All money contributed to us will go towards new books in the library, which will benefit every child in our school. In order to assist in their fund-raising efforts (and raise even more money for our school) we will be holding a coin drive during the month as well. From now until September 10th, please send your spare change to L.E.S. and have your children drop it in the Ca$h for the Classroom container located in the library. You may also donate money at any of the First National Bank branches, including the one in Lincoln, or through Paypal on their website. You may use the link on the right of this blog to access their site.

Thank you in advance for helping our school purchase more books! Please thank the employees of First National Bank for their contributions as well. We are very excited about this opportunity to give back to our students.
